TODAY’S MANNA for Sunday Jan 29, 2017

God does promises not resolutions!

Promises From God
As January of this new year comes to a close I was reminded that so many people make New Year’s “resolutions” and then don’t keep them. God doesn’t make resolutions He makes promises! So with that said, it is once again time to review some of the Promises from God. God’s Word says Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Notice it says hearing first and then that what you are hearing is God’s Word! Not hearing what your circumstances, or your co-workers, or the nightly news, or any of the rest of the world around you is saying! Not hearing what the doctor is telling you or what your body is saying to you. To have faith to receive God’s promises you need to keep hearing His Word, God’s Word, concerning them. Having heard once is NOT enough! These promises are ours to receive as His children – partakers of His covenant with us through Jesus. But just as our earthly fathers and mothers required certain things of us in obedience, so does God require that we be in obedience to Him and His Word if we expect to partake of what He has already given us through Jesus. Notice I said already, past tense, He has already done this. As this year unfolds I believe that we need to press in more to God, be obedient to His Word and His Spirit and begin to believe that we have received His promises and thank Him for them, even before we see any results, that’s how Faith works. Because His Word says “believe when you pray that you have received”, it does NOT say believe when you have received! Faith in God is believing before receiving!

God’s Faithfulness

God makes us a promise that He is faithful and He promises to keep His Word to us.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) —-Hebrews 10:23 King James Version

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? —-Numbers 23:19 King James Version

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. —-1 Thessalonians 5:24 King James Version

… I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it. —-Isaiah 46:11 King James Version

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. —-Isaiah 55:11 New King James Version

For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. —-I Corinthians 1:20 King James Version

Notice God makes no negative promises. If you are hearing negatives, then who are you hearing from?

THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY’S MANNA…
What is so hard to understand about these promises? A resolution can be broken, a promise is for keeps. If God has spoken it (or it is written in His Word) then it shall be as He has said!
Isa. 55:11 “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper [in the thing] for which I sent it.”
It is settled as far as God is concerned, If you don’t have it yet, it is because you haven’t received it (as in taken it from Him). If I promised you a 100 dollar bill and I was holding it in my hand for you to take, how would you get it? All you would need to do is come and take it from my hand, receive it! Well, how much more your Heavenly Father’s promises! God says they are already ours for the taking, our part is the taking from Him and the receiving them.

MY PRAYER…
Heavenly Father, I thank You that Your promises are yes and amen. I thank You Lord that if You have spoken it or if it is written in Your Word that I can count on it coming to pass, I can expect it to happen. Lord I thank You that You are much more trust worthy than mere men, that when You make a promise, written or oral, it will be done! In Jesus Name Father, I thank You for Your promises to me and I give You all glory and honor for ever.
Amen
