Statement of Faith

Spirit of Truth Ministries Statement of Faith…

We believe the following to be true, according to the Word of God…

THE SCRIPTURES
e believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, we accept as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine. We believe faith is acting on the Word of God.
(2Tim 3:16, 1Thess 2:13 ,2Peter 1:21, Heb 11:1)

THE GODHEAD
e believe God is one, but manifested in three persons–the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal, (Phil.2:6) God the Father is greater than all; the sender of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter (John14:28:John16:28; John1:14) The Son is the Word flesh covered ; the One Begotten , and has existed with the Father from the beginning. (John1:14;John 1;18 John 1;1) The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal. (John15:26)

THE DEITY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
e believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He was crucified and buried. On the third day, He arose from the dead and ascended to heaven where He sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty until His enemies become His footstool. In His Virgin Birth, and that He was all God and all man in His bodily form. In the blessed hope of His future return to this earth to receive His Blood-bought church forever. (Luke 1:31; Matt 28:6; Mark 16:19; Matt22:42; John14:3)

MAN’S ETERNAL SPIRIT
e believe that man is a spiritual being created by God, living in a physical body, and has a soul. (1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV) Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God (Gen 1:26).

ETERNAL LIFE AND THE NEW BIRTH
e believe that the new birth is necessary for all mankind, and when experienced, produces eternal life. Man’s first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that worketh repentance. (II Cor. 7:10, I Jn. 5:12, Jn. 3:3-5).

WATER BAPTISM
e believe in water baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the name of Jesus, and the authority invested in that name. Baptism in water is by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Matt. 3:16; 28:19; Mark 16:16; Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12; Acts 8:36-39).

The following recommendation regarding the water baptismal formula is adopted;
to wit: “On the confession of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and by His authority, I baptize you in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus Christ . Amen.”

BAPTISM IN THE HOLY GHOST
e believe in the indwelling and the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. The Baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the new birth. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance (Matt. 3:11; Mark 16:17; John 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38,39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:1-4).

DIVINE HEALING
e believe in divine healing which is the restoration of health to one who believes and acts on God’s Word and that Jesus is the Healer. Healing is for the physical ills of the Human body and is wrought by the Power of God through the prayer of faith, and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the redemptive power of Christ and is the privilege of every member of the believing church today (James 5:14,15, Mark 16:18; Isaiah 53:4,5; Matt 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24).

SANCTIFICATION
e believe the Bible teaches that without Holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the Doctrine of Sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation at Christ’s return. (Heb 12:14, 1 Thess 5:23, 2 Peter 3:18, 2 Cor 3;18, Phil 3:12-14, 1 Cor 1:30)

HELL AND ETERNAL RETRIBUTION
e believe that after death, eternal life begins for our spirit man either in heaven or in hell; where one spends eternity is based on one’s decision to live according to God’s Word and commandments or to rebel against God. The one who physically dies in his sins without accepting Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting.

TITHING
e believe in tithing and bringing offerings into the local church. (Mal 3:10; 1COR 9:14)
